i have to go out every day and call on customers. I try to look nice but each day is harder and harder. my customers don't always want to see me - they don't realize how kind and sweet I am and what good telephone products i can sell them...oh, well - tomorrow is another day on the road AGAIN

Bye Bye Koko and Uno

It is with a heavy heart that I bid a fond farewell to Koko and Uno - adieu my pets!!!

Koko and Uno now reside at Four Paws in Richardson with my dog partner, Ronny.

going to a luncheon/beach party

meeting up w/the owens cousins tomorrow. betsy is in from arizona and they all are going up to niagra falls to celebrate aunt kathleens 80th birthday...
QUESTION: do i have to bring aunt kathleen a gift? her birthday was in feb> and we're meeting at the beach in asbury park?? i have zero ideas, any input???
ps i hate going to these things alone, i have no self confidence, those cousins intimidate me, with their sweetness

There was a fox in my backyard...

It doesn't beat a snake in the house, but I was still surprised to see the fox. It was about as big as a small dog with a very fluffy tail that he held straight out. I ran to get my camera but by the time I got back, the fox was gone. However, my yard looked so nice, I took the picture anyway. Here it is...

Michael has a cast on his arm, from elbow to wrist - earlier today he comes out of his room holding a wiggling, writhing snake by the tail - yelling at me to open the back door so that he could throw the reptile outside - it was in his room, along with god knows what else. How it got there is the mystery.

Yesterday BJ and I went out to lunch, thank God she is getting better. She was really sick this past week, missed 2 days of work and felt horrible, but she is on the road to recovery - we also went to Hobby Lobby for - what else??? yarn... then last night we crocheted until 1:30 am - and watched Doubt with Meryl Streep, it is a GREAT movie, Meryl is the best, thats for sure. I love this movie. I have such doubt...

Today was laundry and housework and snakes... I also took some Uno pictures - he is growing and is still incredibly cute - what are you all up to???

my kids' lives, SUCK, and its no picnic having me for a mother

First off, Michael weighs about 300 pounds, he is HUGE, humongous, f-a-t... he fell, landed on his wrist, and broke it. This was about 2 weeks ago, his hand all swelled up - I yelled at him, told him to stop being a big (fat) baby. After a couple of days, I started feeling just a little sorry for him, and bought him one of those wrist ace bandages, again told him to stop whining, suck it up pussy. Well, he started talking online to his Aunt Ginger (billy's sister) - she kept telling him to go to the hospital. I said forget about it, it would inconvenience ME - now, I feel terrible. He finally went to the hospital yesterday, 2 weeks after the ka-bamm, and now he needs surgery, they need to break his wrist and put pins in it. The doctors told him if he did not get it done, he would be more deformed then he already is.

Next, Willie emails me. Kyla is 12 now, boy crazy, and turning into a total wild child. She went to spend the night with her friend. The friend and her snuck out of the house at 2:00 am to go meet BOYS. The police found them and brought Kyla home. They told Willie and Denise that she was heading down the wrong path and they better do something about it now... Well, Willie doesn't know what to do - he grounds her, takes away the computer and all privileges. She gets mad about that, she calls the police and tell them that Willie punched her. The police are back at the house to investigate. They talk separately to Denise, Willie and Kyla. They realize the punch claim is unfounded -- Willie doesn't know what to do, or how to handle Kyla. He again begs me to take her - how can I handle her??? Oh dear blog, what should I do, what words of wisdom can I give my dear Australian son?? Please blog, have some answers for this poor grandma - who doesn't want to become a great grandma - but probably will within the next few years.

Book Club

I think we should start an online book club. Of course, that would mean we would have to find time to read a book which I am not sure that I can do, but it would be fun. I just heard a book review about a book titled "Brooklyn" by Colm Toibin. He is an Irish author and was also a professor at UT Austin. Anyway, the book is about an Irish immigrant in NY in the 1950's and it sounded good. Has anyone read any books by this author?

Shopping Bag

Just wanted everyone to know that I love the shopping bag that Kenneth gave us for Sister's Day. It has a little clip on it, that I have clipped on my purse. It is so lightweight that I don't even notice it on there but now, everytime I go shopping, I have a bag with me!! It is great and I hope you all are enjoying yours too!

Here is a post script to Marianne's story about selling the car - it's a picture of the 'Sheister-mobile'!!!

You can't tell from this picture - but it is one of those great big long SUV's - the kind with four rows of seats AND it has Texas plates. When the sheister-creep saw me taking a picture of his license plates (No, you can't find someone's name and address with just the plates) - he quickly came up with a story that it was his 'uncles' car. Because supposedly he flew here from Nevada (costing him $900 he couldn't afford) - and he KNEW I knew that was no rental car... Then he had the nerve to yell at me that I cost him another $200 for a 'motel' (who stays in MOTELS anymore?) because he had to wait for me to come back from Austin so he could buy the car....

Ahh! You should have seen Mare Bare in action - throwing him off her property. He hightailed it on out of there!

Uno is born

Koko had one little boy puppy, he was born last night, May 12, 2009. His name is Uno, he is totally cute. Mom and Uno are doing great!

Wow, we are actually blogging

Beaner, we miss you too. We have had lots of rain here, but summer is right around the corner. Last night, BJ and I had a bad experience with this really creepy guy who wanted to buy Grace's old car. He suckered Michael in with tales of woe. He told Michael that he needed a car title for his daughter to get a job. The daughter had 3 small mouths to feed. He flew in from Nevada to help her find a car, that the place where she was going to work wanted to see a car title before they gave her the job... sounds fishy??? Michael believes everything he says and makes plans for BJ to meet him after work last night, in front of our house. We originally were asking $1100 for the car, not a bad deal for a 2002 Pontiac. This jerk wants to pay $200, he is claiming all these things are wrong with the car. He finally says he will pay $400. BJ meets him, he is rude and obnoxious to BJ and even tells her something like she will go to hell if she doesn't sell him the car for his poor daughter. We are not dumb... BJ snatches a picture of his license plate on her blackberry. She agrees to take $400, but he has to give up his personal info, he opens his wallet real fast so that BJ can't read it... We get these forms and are going to make him fill out the forms so that we can mail them in to the title office showing that the car was sold. He immediately gets on his cell phone and talks, talks, talks, never signs the papers. We could tell he was stalling - he didn't want to deal with BJ, just gullible Michael (who, by this time is accusing BJ and me of not having a heart and not wanting to help the poor daughter). BJ comes back in the house - this whole fiasco is taking a long time. I get pissed and I go outside and tell him the sale is off and to leave our property immediately.

Did you ever get a bad vibe from a person, they just emit this bad, weird feeling, you know he is up to no good?? That's how I felt, I got the creeps when I looked at him - as Mom would say, he made my skin crawl...

We were totally creeped out. I had Michael move the car to the back of our house, behind the fence - I am afraid the creep will come back.

The punchline - or the really icky part - of this story. BJ says to him "what kind of a job does your daughter have that is making her show that she has a car title?" - Answer: selling cosmetics door to door.

Was he a scam artist, or what? I think he wanted the title to go to one of those "title loan" places, get money on the title and then dump the car, leaving in in the name of the Martins...

I feel good about throwing the creep out - but now we are back to square one, selling Grace's car. Wish us luck.

the sun is finally out here on the east coast.. the cement is still freezing in the mornings when i take the dogs out and feed the birds.. how about that scarlet tanager !!!!!

In order to create a new subject for us to blog about, you need to sign in - the sign in button is at the top right side of the screen. Once you are signed in, then you can click the tab that says "create new post." You are then presented with a screen for you to type in, upload photos, etc. Then, others can comment on your new post.

ImpactedBean, that is a unique and somewhat curious name... but, I think I know what it means! If you want to change the name, once you are logged in you can go to Settings, I think there is a spot there for you to change your name, but I'm not totally sure.

Here we are just finishing up Sister Week in Oklahoma. The Beavers Bend Park is gorgeous. We stayed at the Idyl Hours cabin in Broken Bow, where we totally reconnected and strengthened our already very strong sister bond.
